The day before the land auction, Sarah met with Charlotte.
After their last conversation, Charlotte no longer feared facing Sarah. Now that everything was out in the open,

Charlotte ordered an iced Americano, but Sarah stopped her. "Since you're pregnant, maybe stick to water."
"Thanks." Charlotte was surprised.
She could see Sarah's eyes were clear, free of any lingering resentment. "I misjudged you before."
"What do you mean?" Sarah asked, taken aback.
"I always thought your coldness toward James was just an act. | heard so much about you from Lucy and Mother.
| believed you cared deeply for James, that you couldn't have moved on so quickly. Whether your distance was
real or fake, | thought he still held a place in your heart. | see now | was wrong." Charlotte gave a self-
deprecating smile.
Sarah didn't respond to this. She hadn't met Charlotte for small talk. Getting straight to the point, she asked,
"Are you and James participating in tomorrow's land auction?"

Sarah nodded. "Crystal Bay."
"No surprise there. Everyone in East Coast has gone crazy over Crystal Bay. | heard Mr. Anderson hasn't inflated
the price - he's actually reduced it by five percent. He really isn't in it for the money," Charlotte mused.
A glint flashed in Sarah's eyes. "That's interesting. Is James also bidding on Crystal Bay?"
"Yes. They say the new shipping route will pass by the island. If we can secure Crystal Bay, we could build a
massive resort hotel, add underwater attractions - it would boost East Coast's economy significantly," Charlotte
explained carefully.
Sarah studied her intently. "What if | told you the new shipping route isn't actually going past Crystal Bay?"
Charlotte's eyes dropped suddenly as she let out a disbelieving breath. "That's... impossible?"
Sarah smiled faintly, as if she'd just understood something.
"Now lettell you - at our private meeting, Mr. Anderson revealed that the shipping route isn't passing by
Crystal Bay at all. It's going past Harbor Crescent."
"That's impossible!" Charlotte's composure faltered.
"These words cdirectly from Mr. Anderson himself. How could it be impossible?" Sarah smiled.
Charlotte looked up sharply. "Why would you be kind enough to tellthis?"
Sarah took a sip of her iced Americano, her tone sardonic. "I'm not telling you this
to make you compete with me. | want you to tell Victoria that I'm bidding on Crystal Bay."
Charlotte suddenly understood. "You mean...?"
"Yes."
"I get it now."
After leaving the café, Sarah ran into Zachary outside her building.
Zachary tensed visibly at the sight of her. "Sarah."
