Chapter 454

Professor Wells furrowed his brows slightly. "Mrs. Mendes, we understand your grief, and the university is willing

to provide sform of compensation for Tina Mendes' passing. However, demanding one million is simply not

possible. If you continue disrupting the school's order at the main gate, we will have no choice but to involve the

police."

Though both Professor Wells and Dean Larson appeared calm and composed, their words left no room for

negotiation.

For once, Mrs. Mendes fell silent, glaring at them viciously. "Fine! Call the police then!"

Professor Wells didn't hesitate he pulled out his phone and started dialing. But just as he pressed the second

digit, his phone was suddenly snatched away.

"You really dare? Do you think there's no law in this country?" she shrieked.

On the other side, Dean Larson calmly raised his own phone, turning the screen toward her so she could see the

number he was dialing. "Calling now-Adams University main gate. Someone is deliberately causing a

disturbance."

The reporters, who had been eagerly capturing every moment, hadn't expected Dean Larson to actually follow

through.

Ten minutes later, a police car pulled up at the entrance.

Mrs. Mendes tensed, while the media immediately turned their cameras toward the officers stepping out.

Dean Larson and Professor Wells stood their ground as one of the officers approached. "Officer, please handle

this situation," Dean Larson said evenly.

Without hesitation, the officer stepped forward and took Mrs. Mendes by the arm. "Ma'am, you'll need to come

with us."

Mrs. Mendes hadn't expected them to take action so quickly. She screamed, "Officer, you're arresting the wrong

person! The teacher at this school killed my daughter! She's the one you should be taking away!"

The officer's voice remained firm. "Mrs. Mendes, our investigation has already concluded that your daughter's

death had nothing to do with Miss Sanders. Please cooperate and cwith us."

Panic flashed across her face. She had fought so hard to make her demands known, yet she hadn't even received

a response from the person she was targeting. Was she really going to be taken away just like that?

No matter how much she struggled, the officers didn't relent. They led her to the police car, her protests fading

into the background.

The black-and-white photo she had been clutching slipped from her grasp, landing on the pavement. Nearby, the

red banner that had once displayed her demands was now discarded, trampled beneath the shifting crowd.

At the Sanders estate.

Mia sat motionlessly on the couch, clutching the blanket tightly around her body. It was the only thing giving her

a sense of security, wrapping her in an illusion of warmth and safety.

The woman beside her was familiar, someone she trusted. Just two hours ago, Mia had been kidnapped, dragged

into a nightmarish ordeal where she witnessed something no one should ever see.

She had watched helplessly as someone bled, cried, and screamed in front of her. The echoes of those shrieks

still circled in her ears, haunting her. Every tshe closed her eyes, all she could see was blood.

The gleaming, bloodstained knife plunging into flesh. The sickening crackle of roasting meat over an open flame.

The scent of burning, seared into her mind. She trembled uncontrollably, fear seeping into every corner of her

being. But worse than the fear itself was the overwhelming feeling of something she couldn't even describe an

invisible, suffocating force that made it even more unbearable. How could she possibly put into words what she

had seen? How could she explain to Sarah the horror of watching someone's flesh being carved away, the

brutality of it all?

Red.
