Chapter 496
If only he had understood these things sooner.
If only back then he had answered: "What's wrong? Can't sleep? | can keep you company."
Perhaps everything would have been different.
But "if only" was both the most abundant and scarcest thing in the world.
He had to admit, when Sarah was playing the role of dutiful trad wife at home, he never noticed her radiance.
Only after she shed that identity did he gradually discover how exceptional and charismatic she truly was.
He stared at their wedding photo on the nightstand, remembering Sarah carefully wiping each crystal photo
album.
His fingers trembled slightly. Perhaps he really was sick - seriously sick.
At the Ocean Mall, Sarah was shopping with Scarlett. Since the wine tasting, Scarlett had convinced herself that
her tacos had played a crucial role in Mr. Sadberry giving the business to the Sanders. She used this as an
excuse to insist on buying Sarah dresses.
"See how generous | am! That was a deal worth hundreds of millions. Thanks to- who knows when you would
have closed that deal otherwise!" Scarlett laughed, her eyes sparkling at the array of clothes.
"Yes, yes, of course." Sarah smiled at Scarlett, knowing she didn't really need Scarlett to pay for her clothes.

shopping, and when she occasionally cwith Scarlett to buy clothes, they usually bought what they needed
and left immediately.
As they passed a photography studio, Scarlett's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Sasa! This is the trendiest photo sturight now-super popular! Let's take spictures!"
Sarah nodded. This was a newly opened photography stuin East Coast, different from ordinary ones. Instead
of just sample portraits, its exterior wall displayed candid shots of landscapes and people, captured by the
photographers at random.
While Scarlett picked out a style, Sarah's gaze drifted toward the photo wall.
Most were scenic shots, but among them were about a dozen portraits. She examined them one by one-until her
eyes suddenly stopped on a familiar scene. A café.
A particular booth near a decorative screen.
A couple sitting across from each other-the woman smiling sweetly, gazing at the man, while he pushed a sugar
jar toward her with a gentle expression.
Sarah had been to this café before.
She had sat in that exact seat.
With Zachary.
Only now, the woman sitting across from him had changed.
She had to admit, Vivian was stunning. The media hadn't been wrong-when she stood beside Zachary, they truly
looked like the perfect pair.
But what unsettled her was Zachary's gaze.
That deep, cold, yet mesmerizing look was filled with warmth-the swarmth she had once thought was
meant for her.
But now, it was directed at another woman.
Or maybe, it had always been meant for Vivian.
Maybe Sarah had only ever been a temporary stand-in for her absence.
That drawing from Mia... wasn't that proof enough?
Scarlett noticed her staring and

Sarah barely glanced at them before handing the tablet back.
"They're all nice. Let's just go with these."
Scarlett nodded.
She knew Sarah's heart wasn't really in it.
