"Mom, | actually wanted to ask you something."
"You want to know how | managed to find the distributors so quickly?"
"Mom! You're amazing! How did you know what | was thinking?"
Sophie rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit exasperated. It seemed she and Colby might have missed the mark in
their parenting approach with their daughter. Something so obvious, and yet Fiona couldn't see it at all.
"Your dad and | have our own ways. Kids shouldn't interfere."
Sophie didn't elaborate further, but Fiona wasn't ready to drop it. "Alec always says you two are the most

Seeing her daughter full of curiosity, Sophie stepped out of the bathroom, wiped her face, and said, "Alright,
those rumors are true."
"What? Did my godfather really get into a fight with Dad over you?"
Sophie nearly did a spit-take, her expression turning serious. "What fight are you talking about?"
Fiona flopped onto the bed, hugging a pillow as she curiously inquired, "Hehe... Actually, | wanted to ask how you

"Rumors are just rumors. You should know your parents are no different from anyone else's; they love you just

"But | really want to know!" Fiona tugged on Sophie's arm, pouting as she tried to learn what had happened in

they finally defeated The Silent Shadows, avenging the four great families.
By the tSophie finished, the sky had already darkened. Fiona returned to her
room, mulling over the love and rivalries of her parents' generation.
Colby chafter finishing his work, finding the house dimly lit. Inside, Sophie was wrapped in a blanket,

"| just found myself thinking a lot today." Sophie leaned into Colby's embrace, smiling, "Colby... can you believe
we've lived half our lives already?"
She had never thought about it before, how fast the happy days had flown by. "Yeah, half a lifetime."
In ten years, their temples would start to gray. In another twenty, they'd be too old to walk.
Sophie and Colby interlocked their
fingers. Their ring fingers still wore the wedding bands they'd exchanged during their vows. As Sophie had once

"Colby, do you know how to love now?"
"Silly girl." Colby held her, chuckling softly, "Colby has always loved Sophie, unwaveringly and endlessly."
