Chapter 1433:
“Does Freya know?” Jacob's voice shifted. He already knew the players involved.
“Yeah.” Jessica nodded. “But she doesn’t know why either.”
For the first time, something deeper cracked through Jacob's usual cool.
He knew Melvin worked under Freya. He also knew Freya wouldn't lie to Jessica about something this important.
If it wasn’t work stopping the boy from admitting his feelings, it had to be something else—something worse. No
wonder Jessica looked like she'd been carrying the weight of that rejection for weeks. Lawrence could be
annoying, but at least he could break through heavy moods like this.
“Did you just say Freya Briggs?” Lawrence suddenly asked, sharp interest flashing across his face.
Jessica blinked, caught off guard. “Wait, you know Freya?”
“Of course | do,” he said with a faint, nostalgic smile. Someone familiar flickered through his mind like an old
photograph. “But what's she got to do with your heartbreak?”

“If you're staying, shut up and stop asking questions,” Jacob cut in coldly. “Pick a room upstairs.”
Jessica's eyes widened.
Even Lawrence was caught off guard by how fast that decision came. He didn’t think Jacob would agree this
quickly.
“You're really letting him stay?” Jessica asked, stunned.
“He talks too much. If you're feeling down, use him. Don’t bottle it up.” There was no softness in Jacob's tone,
but the intent was there, buried deep.
After all, Jacob understood heartbreak better than anyone else in that room. Even now, pieces of himself were
still stuck in the wreckage of what he’d once had with Lawrence.
Jessica's face brightened. “Thank you!”
“Go rest. | need a word with him,” Jacob said, motioning toward Lawrence without glancing his way. “Upstairs.”

“On it!” Lawrence perked up again, practically bouncing toward the stairs like a kid called to recess.
A few minutes later, in the upstairs study, Lawrence leaned against the doorfrwith his usual crooked grin.
“So? What do you want to talk about? I'm all ears.”
Jacob's eyes narrowed, his voice flat but sharp. “Jessica’s a girl. The weather's heating up. Keep your shirt on
around her. Got it?”
