Chapter 1632:

“But you told everyone you want to marry Jerone day,” Jesse pointed out, still puzzled.

If Nina didn’t care, why did she talk about marrying him so seriously? Her words had sounded so heartfelt when

she said them.

“Wasn't that part of the fun?” Nina asked, surprised Jesse didn’t understand.

“Haven't you ever played like that?”

Jesse stood there, speechless. Truth be told, he hadn't played that game. “It's only a game,” Nina said firmly, but

then her face softened. “Jeris nice, though. When | grow up and have lots of money, I'll buy him wonderful

gifts.”

“So, will you marry him or not?” Jesse pressed.

“Definitely!” Nina declared with a grin.

Jesse looked into her bright, innocent eyes and realized she didn’t fully grasp what marriage meant.

“Let's get Damian to join us,” Nina suggested, her thoughts already skipping to that reserved boy.

Jesse sighed, facing a tough truth. “Damian doesn’t like playing with us. He prefers being left alone.”

“That's because he hasn't felt the fun of having friends,” Nina said, her eyes warm with kindness. “His dad gets

mad even when he gets an A-minus. His life isn’t happy.”

Jesse pressed his lips together, wanting to argue but finding no words. It was true that Damian's strict upbringing

had robbed him of a carefree childhood and close friends.

“But when you leave,” Jesse said, thinking ahead, “who will he play with then?” Most kids went back to their

normal routines after friends moved on. For Jesse, Jerome, or Damian, though, someone who touched their lives

left a lasting mark.

“Can't we visit him?” Nina asked with a hopeful smile. “Or maybe he can visit us!”

“Let's go see Damian,” Kristian said, walking up after catching bits of their talk.

“Yay!” Nina cheered, bouncing off with excitement.

Before heading to Damian's, Nina asked Kristian to help her find sjokes.

She had a plan: if Damian seemed down, she’d share a joke to lift his spirits.

However, things didn’t go as she hoped.

When they arrived, Damian was buried in his books and barely looked up. He brushed them off without

hesitation.

“I'm busy,” he said, his face blank. “I don’t have tto play.”

Nina blinked her big, hopeful eyes. “Just for a little bit?”

“No time,” Damian replied, his tone icy.

Nina glanced at Kristian and Jesse, silently asking for help.

Jesse stepped in. “If he’s busy, let's cback later when he’s free.”

“No,” Nina said, her gaze fixed on Damian. “You guys go. I'll wait here until he’s done, then we can play.”

“You'll botherif you stay,” Damian said, still cold.

“I'll wait outside, then,” Nina said cheerfully.

With that, she marched to the living room and settled in.
