Chapter 1817:
Elyse sighed. “It was among Louis’s belongings. Jayden said this was Louis's favorite picture. After taking it, he
placed it on his bedside table. When he died, Jayden found it buried among his things.”
Corrie’s eyes welled up. Tears spilled down her cheeks as she clutched the photo to her chest. Her voice shook
as she murmured, “Louis was an illegitimate son. His family never acknowledged him. He wasn’t the most
talented among them, so they barely paid him any attention. What could he have possibly given me? He had no
future. His love was suffocating.”
Elyse watched her for a moment before asking, “And now?”
Corrie didn’t answer. Instead, she held the photo closer, as if trying to absorb the warmth from a moment long
gone.
What did Louis's love mean to Corrie now?
Without another word, Corrie turned and followed the guard out of the room. She would have plenty of tto
reflect on what Louis’s love had meant to her.
Elyse had never liked Corrie. But seeing her like this, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity.

she asked. “Who upset you this time?”
Standing beside her, Driscoll let out a weary sigh. “Your admirer has sent flowers again. This time, from a
different florist. Mr. Owen has been investigating all day but hit a dead end.”
Elyse glanced at the trash can stuffed with discarded bouquets and sighed inwardly. This was getting ridiculous.
She stepped closer to Jayden and asked, “Are we going about this the wrong way? Is that why we keep coming
up empty?”
Jayden’s jaw tightened, frustration simmering beneath the surface. “What other way is there? | have checked
everything | can think of and still found nothing. Whoever is behind this is annoyingly resourceful.”
Elyse stifled a groan. He was jealous again. She had soothed his ruffled feathers multiple times, yet he was still
angry. She was exhausted from constantly reassuring him.
Crossing her arms around her chest, she asked coolly, “So, are you actually going to listen to my thoughts on
this or not?”
Still fuming, Jayden snapped, “No!”
