Chapter 337
It's fine, Vivian will save her this time. Lucy had only pushed Sarah because of Vivian. Vivian would definitely
cthrough for her!
And even if Vivian didn't, her brother could just get her another psychiatric evaluation. Yes, her brother would
save her. He always did.
At home, Mrs. Chancer cried and argued with James, pleading for him to help Lucy. "She's your sister!"
James, however, remained stone-faced. "Mom, how many times has this happened? She needs to learn her
lesson."
With that, he went into his study and locked the door behind him.
This time, James had made up his mind. He wasn't going to bail Lucy out again. It was tfor her to grow up.
Inside the study, James began searching through his things. He remembered that Sarah had once left a photo
album in here. He suddenly recalled that it was tied to one of the times Sarah had gotten hurt-she had even
taken a photo of herself to "commemorate" the incident.
After nearly half an hour of rummaging, he finally found a pitch-black album tucked in a corner. Opening it, the
first photo immediately brought back a flood of memories.
The first image showed a figure from behind. Boats drifted lazily along the Seine River, and the figure in the
photo was unmistakably his.
For three years, he hadn't touched this album. He vaguely remembered Sarah telling him she bought it to fill it

But right from the first photo, things had gone wrong. He was the only one in it.
As he flipped through more pages, the scattered moments of their ttogether began to surface in his mind,
vivid and inescapable, as if they were happening right before his eyes.
When he turned to the third page, James froze. This photo showed Sarah sitting alone at a dining table. A
birthday cake sat in front of her, candles flickering brightly. She wore a "Happy Birthday" hat, but the loneliness
in the scene was overwhelming.
It felt like a knife had pierced his heart. The harder he tried to forget, the clearer the memories became.
Strangely, he remembered that day in detail.
He had been busy at the factory when Sarah had called, timidly asking if he would chfor dinner. He had
refused without hesitation.
There was no way Lucy or their mother would have celebrated Sarah's birthday with her. In the large, brightly lit
dining room, Sarah had been alone. The cake, its candles glowing warmly, had been there just for her and no one
else.
His fingertips trembled as he touched the photo, almost as if the candle flames were scorching him. He flinched,
startled by the raw loneliness that radiated from the image.
James rubbed his forehead. It had always been his fault. He had let Sarah down too many times.
Taking the photo out of the album, he turned it over and wrote a line on the back: "August 6th, spent my
birthday alone. Best wishes to me."
He frowned slightly. August 6th was only two days away.
If Sarah was planning a birthday
party this year, the invitations shuld
have rad at basis week ago.

While James was deep in thought, the door suddenly opened.
Charlotte walked in, her sharp eyes locking onto him like an eagle's. "What are you looking at?"
Her gaze quickly fell on the object in James's hand-a photo of a woman.
James instinctively stepped back, hiding the photo behind him. "It's nothing."

"James! Is there another woman?" Charlotte's voice trembled. She had clearly seen the image-it was of a
woman.
James's face flushed with anger. "What nonsense are you talking about?" he snapped.
