Chapter 342

At that moment, a sharp pain hit Zachary's chest. He realized something had changed-something

fundamental-but even so, he wasn't ready to give up on

Sarah.

"Sasa, yesterday Vivian said she was in a car accident...”

"Zachary, do you know that what happened at the stables was her doing?" Sarah's eyes widened as

she waited for his answer.

Zachary hesitated before nodding slowly. "I know."

"You knew and said nothing? She tried to hurt me, Zachary. You've letdown." Sarah's voice was

icy. "Tell Vivian, my patience has its limits."

With that, she shoved Zachary out of the counseling room, handing the gift back to him. "We're

done, Zachary. Since we've broken up, there's no need to stay in touch."

She slammed the door shut and pulled the curtains closed.

Zachary walked back to his office, looking utterly lost. His assistant quickly approached him. "Mr.

Reynolds, Miss Wilson is here."

He entered the office immediately and found Vivian sitting in his chair, a playful smile on her face.

"Zachary, you're finally back. Here's the finalized contract. Take a look," she said, sliding the document across

the desk.

Suppressing the questions swirling in his mind, Zachary carefully reviewed the contract. It had cfrom Vista

International but had been sent to Vivian's family for initial review before reaching him.

"It's fine," Zachary said after finishing. Surprisingly, Vivian had even revised sections unfavorable to his

company, which made him question her motives.

He signed his non the document, placed the pen down, and fixed his gaze on Vivian. "What happened

yesterday? Why did | pass out?"

Vivian paused, her expression unreadable, before answering. "Maybe you accidentally drank the sleeping pills

my doctor prescribed for me."

After a brief pause, she added, "It wasn't intentional."

Zachary narrowed his eyes slightly. "And the incident at the stables? Was that intentional?"

A flicker of something dark crossed Vivian's eyes before she quickly masked it. "Zachary, don't you trust me? You

believe Sarah over me?"

She straightened in her chair, tapping her fingers lightly on the folder. "All this, just for Sarah?"

Zachary's expression turned calm and measured. No matter how much he wanted to stand up for Sarah, he had

to deal with the Wilson family first.

"I was there that day. Don't let something like this happen again," he said firmly.

Vivian's smile vanished as she gathered the contract. "I agree, Zachary. | don't want anything like this to happen

again either. I'll take this back and show it to my grandfather."

With that, she turned and left, leaving Zachary standing in the cold silence of his office.

At the Chancer household, James sat in his study, staring blankly at the photo of Sarah. It was the one of her

sitting alone on her birthday, the room brightly lit, but her loneliness painfully evident.

The incident at the stables was fresh in his mind, and he remembered all too well that Charlotte had been

involved.

"What are you looking at?" Charlotte's voice broke the silence.

James jumped in surprise, quickly shoving the photo into a drawer.

"James, do you still remember the promises you made to me?" Charlotte asked, her tone tinged with

doubt, as if afraid he'd forgotten everything he once said.

He had promised to love only her, to have no one else in his heart. But now, Charlotte could feel it-

James's heart wasn't entirely hers anymore. Part of it had shifted toward Sarah. It wasn't her

imagination, and it wasn't a baseless suspicion.

"lI remember, Charlotte. Don't worry," James said, trying to reassure her.

Charlotte threw herself into his arms, her voice trembling. "James, you can't forget the promises

you made to me." Her eyes reddened, tears threatening to fall.

She couldn't lose this man-she loved him too much.

Suppressing the irritation stirring inside him, James wrapped his arms around her waist.

"1 haven't forgotten, but don't do anything unnecessary anymore," he said firmly.

Charlotte's body stiffened at his words. "James, what do you mean? | don't understand what you're

saying."
