Chapter 372
Scarlett lowered her eyes, unable to look at him. "Let's just pretend nothing happened between us.
It was all a misunderstanding..."
Steven laughed coldly. "A misunderstanding? You call that a misunderstanding? You're really
makingangry now."
Scarlett cringed internally - was he acting out scheesy romance ?
"You're overacting."
"Break up with him immediately," Steven said coldly. "I remember everything from that night
perfectly. You need to take responsibility!"
Scarlett stared at Steven's face, slightly dazed. She asked calmly but firmly, "So why are you really
here? Just to tellto break up?"
"..." Perhaps it was her determined gaze, but Steven found himself at a loss for words.
Of course, he hadn't cjust to tell Scarlett to break up - he wanted to suggest they give things a
try.
But why couldn't he muster the courage to say so?

Scarlett pressed on, "Or do you want to be with me? Do you actually like me? Or are you just here playing the
responsible guy because we slept together?"
Steven remained silent, unsure himself of his true motives.
Scarlett looked away disappointedly, pushing his hand aside. "I need to rest."
She walked inside without looking back, leaving Steven standing there lost in thought.
Perhaps he had acted impulsively today, but when facing Scarlett, he still hesitated.
It's not traffic lights that cause problems - it's hesitation.
The day before the charity auction, Sarah waited for Melvin to chome.
"Melvin, takewith you to the auction."
Melvin was surprised. Sarah had never shown interest in company matters before.
He smiled. "Sure. I've been wondering what to bring for auction - helpthink of something."
Sarah shook her head, smiling confidently as she pointed to something on the table. "Look at this."
"What is it?" Melvin walked over curiously and lifted the cloth to reveal...
From what he'd heard, Mr. Anderson was deeply spiritual and devout - so devoted to his faith that he had once
considered joining the seminary.
Over the years, he had collected antiques, with a particular passion for vintage rosaries and religious artifacts.
Melvin had spent a long tsearching for the right auction piece. Though this was supposedly a charity auction
open to all participants, many people had been secretly hunting for specific antiques designed to catch Mr.
Anderson's attention.
If someone's antique caught Mr. Anderson's eye among all the others, they would undoubtedly becthe
center of attention.
That would mean getting closer to Mr. Anderson - and closer to the property.
The charity auction was being held in St. Ritz Hotel's largest ballroom. Sarah entered the venue on
Melvin's arm.
Spotlights sparkled around them as Sarah maintained a graceful smile.
Melvin, though worried, kept his concern off his face as he whispered, "Sarah, are you sure about
setting such a high price?"
Sarah nodded, speaking softly, "Of course. If anything, | think it's too low. Mr. Anderson will
understand."
"Sarah, | trust your judgment on this," Melvin gave his sister a reassuring look. She was dressed
elegantly but simply today in a cream-colored dress, adorned only with a tasteful necklace from
Louis Vuitton's latest collection.
A platinum watch graced her wrist, lending an air of sophistication.
Since this was both Mr. Anderson's birthday celebration and a charity auction, it wouldn't be
appropriate to dress too flashily and overshadow the occasion.
The ballroom was already set up with numerous dining tables, with the auction stage prominently
positioned at the front.
After she and Melvin took their seats, she spotted James and Charlotte.
