Chapter 389

"Sasa, | don't know." Zachary avoided her gaze.

Seeing Zachary's evasive expression, Sarah already had her answer. His refusal to explain was

confirmation enough.

If he didn't want to answer, Sarah wouldn't push.

"If you won't answer my question, | won't force you,” Sarah said firmly, “but Zachary, 1 won't give

up."

Whether it was the photo from last tor the bracelet now, Sarah's doubts about her own

memory. If Zachary wouldn't explain, and Melvin wasn't a viable option, her only lead left was Mia.

She sought out Mia once again. When she showed the bracelet to Mia, the other girl seemed just as

puzzled.

"Sarah, could the store clerk have made a mistake?" Mia suggested. "After all, you only heard the

last name. According to their policy, the client's full identity is confidential. How could they casually

reveal that kind of information?"

Sarah nodded. What Mia said wasn't unreasonable-she'd considered it too.

But lately, too many strange things had been happening to her. Her fragmented memories, Melvin's and

Zachary's reactions, and even Vivian's behavior—all of it felt off.

It was as though she were lost in a dense forest, surrounded by thick fog. Every tshe tried to light a candle

for clarity, someone would snuff it out.

"Sarah, don't dwell too much on the past," Mia advised gently. "Until we can confirm anything, all our guesses

are just that-guesses. Even your current emotional state could be misleading."

Sarah ruffled Mia's hair playfully. "Look at you, being all rational! That's so unlike you."

Mia puffed up proudly. "I've always been this way."

Suddenly, Sarah asked, “Mia, do you think | should see a psychologist? Maybe try hypnotherapy?"

Mia shook her head firmly. "You're a psychologist yourself. You don't need to see another one."

St. Ritz

Scarlett parked her car and walked into St. Ritz.

Ever since she'd cleared things up with Steven, she hadn't been able to find peace.

Even at night, her dreams were haunted by thoughts of Steven. The memory of that night lingered in her mind,

the warmth of his touch impossible to shake.

She specifically requested Steven, which made the restaurant manager pause in confusion. "Miss, do you have a

prior reservation?" he asked politely.

Scarlett shook her head. "No, I don't."

The manager smiled apologetically. "Miss, Chef Miller is one of our top chefs. If you'd like him to prepare a meal

for you, you need to book in advance."

Scarlett let out a bitter laugh. "Is he in the restaurant right now?"

"Yes, he is," the owner replied courteously.

"Then please let him know that Scarlett is asking for him. Tell him to cout quickly."

The manager gave her a puzzled look. Was she a friend of his? Although he found it odd, he still

went to pass on the message.

Before long, Steven followed the manager into the room. The moment he saw Scarlett, he froze for

a second. After their last meeting at her front door, he had assumed that might be the last time

they'd see each other. He thought Scarlett might try to avoid him from then on.

What he didn't expect was for Scarlett to show up here-specifically to see him.

"She's... a friend," Steven said awkwardly, sensing the manager's curiosity. Finally understanding

the situation, the manager tactfully left them alone.

Steven sat across from Scarlett. This was their second awkward encounter.

"Scarlett," he said hesitantly, his tone laced with uncertainty.
