Chapter 650

Charlie's hands were shaking uncontrollably. He couldn't go to jail—he wouldn't go to jail.

No. No, this wasn't how it was supposed to go.

Manager Sullivan had promised he'd protect him. He'd said everything would be fine.

But Sarah and Mr. Lambert weren't bluffing. Everything they'd said had sounded terrifyingly real. What if Sullivan

couldn't actually help him?

"I'm not going to jail," Charlie muttered, more to himself than anyone else, cold sweat running down his back.

Sarah let out a cold snort. "Oh? And who told you that? Letguess-you wouldn't have dared pull a stunt like

this on your own. So why don't you just tellwho put you up to it? Unless you really believe they've got the

power to save you. Don't forget-everything that person has cfrom the Sanders family."

Charlie froze. The way she said it made it clear-she already knew who was behind it.

"So... if | tell you, does that mean you'll drop the charges?” Charlie asked, eyes wide with desperation.

Sarah walked over to him slowly, grabbed his arm, and dragged him to the chair, forcing him to sit. She leaned in

close, one hand braced on the chair's backrest. Her presence was suffocating.

"Charlie, you need to start thinking about yourself. If you keep quiet, you're taking the fall for everything. But if

you givea name, at worst, you're just an accomplice. And if I'm in a good mood, maybe | won't even call the

police. | might give you a chance to make things right. Sound like a better deal?"

Mr. Lambert's voice was cold. "Someone like him doesn't deserve another chance. Call the cops. Make sure he

goes to jail and pays back every last cent."

Charlie's shoulders trembled. He clenched his fists, lips trembling as he weighed his options. Finally, he cracked.

"Fine! It was Manager Sullivan! He toldto do it! He said if | helped him, I'd get money and a promotion. But if

| didn't, he'd fire me. | swear, | only did it to protect myself!"

Sarah raised an eyebrow and turned to Mr. Lambert. "Got it all on tape?"

Mr. Lambert pulled a small camera out from behind a flowerpot, checked the screen, and nodded. "Every word."

Sarah looked back at Charlie with a sharp, satisfied smile. "Great. Since you've confessed, you can leave now. |

won't call the cops-yet. But the cost of those machines is six million. You've got ten days to pay up."

Charlie stumbled out of the office like a man in a daze.

Six million. A number so big it barely felt real. He'd never even seen that kind of money in his life. Where the hell

was he supposed to get six million?

He'd barely made it out of the factory gate before a hand yanked him to the side.

"What did Sarah and Mr. Lambert want with you?" Manager Sullivan's face was stone-cold.

He was nearly ripping out his own hair now, eyes wild with panic.

Sullivan's eyes narrowed. "Charlie-look at me. Did you tell them about me?"

Charlie froze. Then shook his head so hard he almost gave himself whiplash.
