“Noted,” Jack replied, pocketing it.
After staying in the office a little longer than necessary, they left together.
As soon as they exited City Hall, Jack turned to her. “Feel like grabbing a drink?”
“No,” Jessica answered without hesitation.
“Con, I'll call Haley too,” Jack persisted. As annoying as he could be, sometimes his timing was oddly
considerate. “It’s your first official day as a heartbroken woman.”
“You really don’t know when to shut up,” Jessica replied, irritated by the word heartbroken.
