Chapter 1647:

“You've got to let go to move forward,” Jesse said. “If you hold on too tight, you'll never find a new beginning.”

Kristian paused, a shadow of doubt flickering in his eyes as he studied Jesse more intently. He wanted to be sure

he wasn’t imagining things, so he asked in a clear, measured voice, “What do you mean?”

“You know it,” Jesse answered firmly.

Kristian raised his brows slightly, curiosity sharpening his gaze. If he was interpreting this correctly, wasn’t this

child a bit too perceptive for his age?

“I know about your relationship with my mom,” Jesse said plainly, deciding to stop beating around the bush. “But

that’s all in the past now.”

Kristian, who had been preparing to leave, slowly returned to his seat. The words confirmed it—Jesse was not like

other kids his age.

He sat down on the single sofa beside Jesse, his expression serious. “How did you find out?”

“I looked into it myself,” Jesse replied without hesitation, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Kristian’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Looked into it yourself?”

Jesse nodded confidently. “Yeah.”

“Did someone help you, or did you do it on your own?” Kristian asked, leaning forward a little.

“I did it myself using the computer,” Jesse explained clearly, his eyes steady.

“I found out that you and my mom used to be together.”

“Mm-hmm.” Kristian’s lips curved into a subtle smile, interest lighting up his face. “So tell me. Who do you think

is a better match for your mom,or your dad?” he asked, his gaze fixed firmly on Jesse's face.

Jesse answered without flinching, “Since Mom chose Dad, she must think he’s the better match.”

“And if you had to choose, would you wantto be your father or Ellis?” Kristian pressed further.

Jesse frowned slightly. He suddenly found Kristian a little childish. How could the boss of a big company ask such

a silly question?

Unaware of Jesse’s thoughts, Kristian kept the conversation going. “Is it that hard to choose?”

“My dad might be a bit difficult sometimes, but he’s a man of his word,” Jesse replied, his voice even. “He does

what he promises us and Mom. The way he disciplines Nina andis fair.”

Both his parents had their own place in his heart, and neither could be replaced.

“That's good to hear.” Kristian smiled gently, a rare softness smoothing his sharp features.

“It's better to keep your eyes on what lies ahead,” Jesse added, hoping Kristian would finally let go and find his

own path forward.

“Whether | look ahead or not, | have my own plans,” Kristian said as he stood. He reached out and ruffled Jesse’s

hair lightly. “Get srest. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight,” Jesse replied quietly.

Even after Kristian left and the door closed, Jesse couldn't stop thinking. What exactly had happened between

Kristian and his mother? Why did it seem like he still couldn't move on? The question lingered in Jesse’s heart

unanswered, even as the years passed.
