Chapter 780

Seriously?

How is that even remotely good?!

Since when does Mr. Ward ever show up to these kind of dinner parties?

Ike looked utterly baffled, while Silas had already taken his seat beside Marguerite.

Mr. Perry was all too eager to pour Silas a drink, but then the man suddenly asked, "Mr. Perry, how much are you

planning to invest?"

Mr. Perry was taken aback, "Mr. Ward, what are you talking about?"

Seeing the confusion, Ike hurried to explain:

"Mr. Perry, didn't you just say you'd bet your last don the Polar Radiance project if you had the chance? Mr.

Ward is asking, are you in or out?"

In?

The cost per bottle of that perfis $4,000. He'd have to bet his life on it!

Mr. Perry's lips twitched into a grimace, clearly not amused.

"In... Of course, I'm in! Just not right now... Mr. Ward, | need to weigh my options a bit more."

Marguerite, looking to stir the pot, pressed on: "Mr. Perry, Mr. Ward is all in, but you're not? What are you trying

to say? You think Mr. Ward has poor judgment?" At that, everyone held their breath.

It was clear as day. Marguerite was laying a trap for Mr. Perry!

Serves him right for underestimating people earlier!

Marguerite watched him with a sly grin, as Mr. Perry, out of options, hastily downed his drink to mask his panic.

It took him a moment to muster, "No, no, Mr. Ward's judgment is second to none. It's just... well... I'm short on

cash..."

"But didn't you just say you were rolling in dough? How cyou're suddenly broke? Mr. Perry, in business,

integrity is everything. If you're like this, who would dare to partner with you in the future?"

Marguerite's words seemed playful, but were laden with threat.

He had organized this dinner specifically to cozy up to Silas, hoping to forge a partnership and get a slice of the

pie.

But with Marguerite's comments, he feared Silas might take it to heart.

He racked his brain to change the subject, but Marguerite wasn't about to let it go. Instead, she turned to Silas,

deliberately asking.

"Mr. Ward, would you consider partnering with Mr. Perry in the future?"

Silas sipped his red wine, looking at her thoughtfully before replying with a question of his own, "Would you

partner with him?"

Marguerite pretended to ponder, then with a radiant smile, replied, "Of course not. Our Poppy Petal Fragrances is

just a small boutique operation. How could we possibly partner with Mr. Perry?"

Mr. Perry almost choked on his own spit!

His demeanor immediately plummeted, frantically trying to win Marguerite's favor by pouring her a drink.

"Ms. Lockwood, you're too modest. | was blind to your talents! Please, have mercy on me! If there are any small

projects in the future, | hope you and Mr. Ward could consider including me."

Oh, Mr. Perry, how quickly you can bend.

What happened to all that bluster from before?

Marguerite wished she could capture this moment on video to show him just how pitiful he looked.

But indulging in such petty revenge wasn't her style, nor did she have the heart for it.

Feeling vindicated, she happily grabbed her glass from the table and downed it in one go, her mood significantly

brightened.

Silas watched her small gesture, a hint of amusement in his eyes.

This woman, at the end of the day, was still a young girl at heart.

Regaining her dignity made her day, charmingly naive.

But Marguerite had forgotten one crucial detail - her low tolerance for alcohol. That single glass of wine she had

just downed so quickly and eagerly was now making her head spin, lulling her into sleepiness.
