Chapter 678

Without looking back, Sarah turned and left, quickly packing up her things to head home.

It had been quite a while since she last saw Melvin. She wondered if he'd been eating properly lately.

Ever since he took over Sanders Group, that guy had been so busy he barely had tto sit down for a meal. If

Sarah hadn't lost her temper one day and yelled at him, he probably would've turned into sworkaholic robot

surviving on air.

As she walked up to the door and was about to unlock it, the door swung open from the inside.

"Oh, Marianne, you're still here? | thought you'd gone halready," Sarah greeted in surprise.

Marianne wiped her hands on the apron tied around her waist and smiled. "The soup's not ready yet, just needs

a few more minutes. | was actually thinking about making that salad you like so much."

Sarah grinned. "Is someone else picking up Taylor today?" She knew Marianne usually left at six sharp to pick up

her grandchild.

Marianne headed back into the kitchen as she replied, "My husband's back, so | get a little break these days."

Hearing that, Sarah's gossip radar instantly lit up. She followed after her, teasing with a playful wink. "Then what

are you still doing here? You should hurry home! Don't keep Uncle waiting - wouldn't want him blaming us for

keeping you from your precious couple time."

Even though Marianne was older, her cheeks still flushed red at Sarah's teasing. She turned back, pretending to

scold, "You little rascal."

Sarah casually grabbed a cherry tomato from the fruit basket and popped it into her mouth, casually asking,

"Nothing happened at hwhile | was gone, right?" Without thinking, Marianne replied easily, "What could

possibly happen?"

But the next second, her hands stopped mid-chop- clearly remembering something.

Sarah caught the change in her expression immediately and asked, "Marianne, what's wrong?"

Marianne hesitated, not sure if she should say anything. She stood there for a long time, struggling to find the

right words.

Sarah could tell something was definitely up. She softened her voice, "Marianne, | don't know what you're

worried about, but whatever it is if you don't want anyone else to know, or if you just wantto pretend | never

heard it — I can do that."

That finally put Marianne at ease. She set down her knife, turned around, and said,

"Miss Sarah... Melvin hasn't been in a good mood these days. He hasn't been eating much either. If you get a

chance, you should talk to him."

Sarah thought about it for a moment, then asked, "Marianne, do you know why he's upset?"

Marianne didn't hide it from her. "A few days ago, Melvin had a big argument with Madam. | didn't catch exactly

what they were fighting about, but after that day, he's been walking around like a thundercloud ever since."

Sarah gave a small, knowing smile.

"Alright, | get it." She placed her half-eaten tomato on the table, patted Marianne's arm, and promised, "Don't

worry, Marianne. I'll go talk to Melvin and make sure he eats properly these next few days. Hopefully, I'll fatten

him up into a big chubby ball."

Marianne burst out laughing, shaking her head.

"You two cousins really do have the best relationship. I'm honestly a little jealous."

Sarah loved hearing that. She blinked cheekily and replied without a hint of modesty,

"Well, of course!"

She had a pretty good guess about what had caused the argument between Melvin and his mother.

Most likely, Melvin had found out about what Mr. Sullivan had done.
